Limestone:- Is a common type of carbonate sedimentary rock which is the main source of the material lime, made up of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) usually in the form of calcite or aragonite. It may contain considerable amounts of magnesium carbonate (dolomite) as well. However, minor constituents of clay, iron carbonate, feldspar, pyrite, and quarts is also commonly present.
Limestone forms when these minerals precipitate out of water containing dissolved Calcium. And comprises about 15% of the Earth's sedimentary crust.
